Islam
puts considerable emphasis on its followers to
acquire knowledge. It was as a result of application
of knowledge that Muslims were the superpower
of the world for twelve centuries.
Today,
globally the Muslims have the lowest literacy
rate. In Great Britain, according to the official
statistics Muslim pupils are among the lowest
academic achievers. Over 75% of Muslim pupils
are leaving secondary schools with no GCSEs at
grades A-C. In addition, as a consequence of non-Islamic
ethos in state run schools, Muslim children are
becoming alienated from their traditions and are
increasingly suffering from an identity crisis.
The tension between parents and children has almost
reached breaking point. This is the harsh reality
of the Muslim condition in Great Britain.
Many years ago, inspired by my ideal teacher and spiritual
guide Huzoor Zia ul-Ummah Jusice Pir Muhammad Karam
Shah Al-Azhari RA(1918-1998), I had a dream to respond
to the educational and spiritual needs of future Muslim
generations in Europe.
Al-Hamdu
Lillah, that dream has turned to reality in the form
of Jamia Al-Karam. The institution started as a Muslim
boys boarding school in a small house with 5 pupils
in Milton Keynes in 1985. By the grace of Almighty
Allah, a decade later in January 1995 we bought the
present site at Eaton Hall set in 30 acres of beautiful
and secluded countryside, which is free from any distraction
and adverse influence.
Undoubtedly
Jamia Al-Karam is Almighty Allah's beautiful and excellent
gift to the Muslims of Europe.
